Barbados gained their independence from the British government on 30 November 1966 through United Nations Resolution 1541 decolonization process. The island negotiated its own independence at a constitutional conference with Britain in June 1966.
Did you know that the Federation of Malaysia was also formed as a "Trust" through United Nations Resolution 1541 based on the Final Conclusion of the Secretary General of the United Nations, U Thant on 14th September 1963. Malaysia was then formed on 16th September 1963 and the decolonization process for Sabah and Sarawak through "Malaysia" was formally kick-started.
It is better to be a sovereign country through decolonization process of "Malaysia" than remained a British colony. You argue, you decide. Make a research.
